Who is the brand Maier?

Maier think functionality is a matter of course. For us at Maier Sports, clothing for outdoors and winter sports has to do three times as much. First of all, clothing must have the perfect fit. Second, the materials have to be high-quality and innovative to meet new customer needs. And third, clothing should be ethically and ecologically sound. The company was founded in 1938 as Immanuel Maier GmbH; in 1970, Gerhard Maier took over management. He quickly turned his father’s textile company into a clothing manufacturer known throughout the industry for the trending sports of that time: skiing and tennis. Outdoor was added later. Nowadays, you can’t imagine the skiing and outdoor industry without Maier Sports. It has been known as the pants and fitting specialist for many years. The little town of Köngen lies outside the gates of Stuttgart, at the foot of the Swabian Alp, surrounded by idyllic orchards. This town with about 10,000 inhabitants has been Maier Sports’ home since its foundation in 1938. Maier Sports is a Swabian company which feels very connected to the region and its people. Most of our approximately 100 employees are from Köngen and the immediate area. Living tradition for more than 80 years. Preserving and further refining this legacy is our responsibility and our motivation. Because this long experience offers us great opportunities for the future. In 2012, Gerhard Maier retired from the active management of his life’s work. The new management, led by Simone Mayer and Lothar Baisch, together with the entire Maier Sports team, was faced with the challenge of continuing this proud tradition and caring for the proven strengths of our company. If something has to work, it first has to fit. Every new Maier Sports product needs to meet this basic requirement. That’s why our pants are available in more than 60 different sizes. Whether standard, short, long, loose or close-fitting – all our customers can find their perfect item of clothing within our range of sizes. Because we believe that what suits our customers also functions better in a sustainable way. We recognise our responsibility to people and the environment. Because sustainability starts by treating our employees fairly, and continues quite naturally in developing sustainable and responsible production processes. And what’s more: As part of our “Mission Clean Function”, we are committed to using materials that are neither harmful to the environment nor to people. For example, we use an alternative finishing free of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFC). Since 2015, Maier Sports GmbH, with its brands GONSO and Maier Sports, has been part of the Schwan-STABILO Group. This group includes, in addition to the well-known pens (STABILO), numerous brands in 3 different sectors. In the outdoor area, the brand portfolio consists of the following brands that all act independently of each other and with their own brand core as well as target group orientation.
